Born in Valencia, Venezuela. Luis came to the USA on a Volleyball scholarship back in 2003. Since he was a kid, Luis played many sports and developed a competitive spirit. After graduating from Lees-McRae College in the small town of Banner Elk, NC Luis embarked on a life-changing venture to the big apple, New York City. That’s when he learned about the vast financial services industry, Wall St, and everything that banks, investment firms and lenders can do. A few years in the industry and Luis began to see how not all people had the same opportunities or access to financing, and how not all lenders are the same; this made Luis want to enter the non-for-profit, mission-driven lending world, to make a difference in the lives of those who need it the most.
Luis joins us with almost 9 years of experience in the financial industry, prior to joining SELF he was a branch manager for another CDFI. Luis Loves volleyball, baseball, soccer and outdoor activities like kayaking/canoeing, going to the beach, hiking and just being out in nature. He’s happy to help you with all your home improvement financing needs.
